Ask Your State Legislators to Step Up for Oregonians

It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic has hit Oregonians and their families hard. Through it all, community health care workers have been working around the clock to the point of exhaustion, selflessly caring for their neighbors, friends, and complete strangers, while simultaneously fearing for their own health and the health of their loved ones.

It is in this time of crisis, and in the midst of a rapidly expanding Oregon Health Plan, that Governor Brown has proposed slashing health care funding for hospitals and their workers who continue to care for Oregon’s most vulnerable. Our community hospitals have long supported increasing access to health care through Medicaid enrollment and have worked to secure new funding for the Oregon Health Plan. But increasing Medicaid enrollment without adequately funding reimbursements for hospitals will only further exhaust resources that are even now being stretched thin.

Our community hospitals are already straining under the pressure of COVID-19. Without adequate state funding, Oregonians relying on Medicaid may struggle to receive the care they rightfully qualify for and so desperately need.
